Better conversations.
Measurable
change.
HumanVantage gets managers ready for the conversations they put off, then shows you what changed. Not attendance. Not satisfaction scores. What managers actually do when the conversation gets hard.
Work shapes people’s lives. So do the conversations that happen there.
A manager who dreads Monday because of the conversation they keep putting off. A team member who leaves a one-to-one feeling smaller than when they walked in. Both are the result of a conversation nobody was prepared for. Most managers were never taught how to have them, and courses and guidelines don’t change what happens in the room. Practice does.
What changes when managers practise.
Six outcomes HumanVantage is built to move, and how it moves each one.
The conversation happens sooner
Issues get raised while they are still small, before they turn into a formal process, a grievance or a resignation. Dread is what makes managers delay; rehearsal takes the dread out.
In the pilot: 77% of managers said it reduced their anxiety, and 82% would use it before a real one-to-one.
It goes better in the room
Managers name the issue clearly, hear the reaction without getting defensive, and close with something specific. The behaviours that decide whether a hard conversation lands or backfires.
How: realistic pushback from an AI employee, then private feedback on strengths, missed moments and what to try next. Retry until it feels natural.
Good people stay
People rarely leave over one bad day. They leave after the stay conversation, the career conversation or the honest pay conversation that never happened. Managers who can have those conversations keep people longer.
How: dedicated scenarios for stay conversations, career conversations and pay, practised against three different personalities.
Teams speak up
Psychological safety is built or broken in how a manager reacts when someone raises a problem. Managers who have rehearsed staying calm and curious under pressure make it safe to tell them things.
How: feedback scores psychological safety behaviours, including empathy, curiosity and fairness, on every session.
Training spend shows a return
A before and after measure of observed behaviour, not self-reported confidence. You can show the board which conversation types improved, by how much, and where the gaps still are.
How: training assessments, three blind role-plays before your programme and three after. More →
The People team gets its time back
When managers can handle the first conversation themselves, fewer issues land on HR as escalations. The People team moves from firefighting to building capability.
How: managers practise on demand, in ten minutes, without booking a workshop or pulling in HR to role-play.
Practise. Measure. Improve.
Practice Without Risk
Managers rehearse real scenarios (pay disputes, performance concerns, wellbeing conversations, grievances) on a video call with AI employees that respond like real people.
Each one brings a distinct personality, emotional state and hidden signals that only surface if the manager handles the conversation well. It’s private, repeatable, and available on demand.
Measure Real Behaviour
Every conversation generates behavioural data. See whether managers name the issue, acknowledge emotion, maintain clarity under pressure, or default to avoidance.
This isn’t self-reported confidence or quiz scores. It’s evidence of what a manager actually does when the stakes feel real, scored against research-backed behavioural markers and tracked over time.
Intelligence at Scale
Aggregate data across your management population reveals capability gaps, tracks development over time, and connects leadership behaviour to business outcomes.
See where managers struggle most, which conversation types create the biggest risk, and whether your development investment is shifting behaviour: not just participation, but performance. Individual feedback stays private to the manager; you see team-level patterns.
One platform. Three sets of outcomes.
For managers
- Walk into the hard conversation having already had it
- Private feedback nobody else sees
- Less dread, more confidence, and a plan for what to say
- Practise any time, in ten minutes, as often as needed
For People and L&D leaders
- Evidence of behaviour change, not completion rates
- See which conversation types carry the most risk
- A before and after measure for any programme
- Fewer first conversations escalated to HR
For the organisation
- Issues raised earlier, before they become formal
- Managers who keep good people
- Teams where people feel safe to speak up
- Development spend you can justify to the board
Why practice beats another course.
Every option has its place. Only one lets every manager rehearse the real conversation, privately, whenever they need to, and gives you data on what they did.

Frequently asked questions.
What is HumanVantage AI?
An AI-powered practice platform where managers rehearse difficult workplace conversations on a video call with an AI employee, then get private feedback on what they did well and what they missed. Organisations see team-level patterns in how managers handle those conversations.
How long does a practice session take?
Five to ten minutes. It runs in a web browser with nothing to install, and managers can repeat a session as many times as they like.
What conversations can managers practise?
38 scenarios, including declining a pay rise, raising a performance concern, a wellbeing check-in, team conflict, delivering restructure news, career conversations and stay conversations. Each scenario can be practised against three different personalities, so the same conversation never plays out the same way twice.
Who sees a manager's results?
Each manager’s feedback is private to them. The organisation sees team-level patterns across its management population, not individual surveillance.
Does HumanVantage replace our management training?
No. It works alongside your existing programmes, internal or from a provider. Managers practise what they learned, and training assessments measure whether the programme changed behaviour.
How do you measure behaviour change?
Every session is scored from the transcript on eight behavioural traits: candour, empathy, curiosity, adaptability, accountability, fairness, coaching and recognition. Training assessments run three blind role-plays before a programme and three after, and compare observed behaviour rather than self-reported confidence.
How is it different from role-play with actors?
Actor role-play is valuable but usually happens once, in front of peers, and is costly to scale. HumanVantage is private, available the day before the real conversation, repeatable without limit, reaches every manager, and produces behaviour data on every session.
Is it suitable for small businesses?
Yes. Small businesses without a People team use it so the hard conversations that land on the founder or managers are rehearsed first. Book a call and we will talk through what fits.
